1539 Restaurant & Bar, Chester Racecourse are celebrating after scooping the Gold Award for Best Large Restaurant at the annual Taste Cheshire Awards yesterday evening (24 April).
The glamorous black-tie event, hosted by Dee 106.3’s Gavin Matthews and We Love Cheshire’s, Izzy Grey had more than 360 guests in attendance and was held at The Pavilion, Chester Racecourse. The prestigious awards ceremony, now in its 19th year, is recognised as the pinnacle of food, drink and hospitality honours for Cheshire.
Over 44,000 public votes were cast by members of the public throughout the region, after which the shortlisted venues were mystery visited and scored by experts from the industry. Once the scores were collated, Bronze, Silver and Gold Award winners were decided for each of the 15 categories.
Judges of the Best Large Restaurant category commented, “This was a restaurant that knew what it was trying to be, backed up by precise and flavoursome food with staff who were clearly well trained in dealing with large numbers. It was a fabulous atmosphere when we dined and the place was buzzing.”
1539 Restaurant & Bar established for over a decade as Chester Racecourse’s statement on-course eatery, provides quality food and drink all year round and sought-after panoramic views of the Roodee. In a year in which the racecourse celebrates 480 years of racing since its inception and a recently recognised title from Guinness World Records for ‘Oldest Racecourse in Operation’, this award is a fitting tribute to add to a year long celebration of heritage at the Roodee.
Andre Sievers, Restaurant Manager said “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award, as it is recognition of the hard work our fantastic team puts in every day. We pride ourselves on consistently delivering a high-quality service and enjoyable experience for all of our guests. Thank you to all of our loyal customers who voted for us!”
