This Summer's Line Up

The school term has finally come to an end and a long summer holiday is stretched out ahead of us. Here at Chester Racecourse we have an entire summer of fun planned for families to get involved with! From thrilling racing action and craft activities in The White Horse to a spot of Polo on the Roodee, there is something for everyone.

The jam-packed calendar of fun is set to start with the Parentfolk Ultimate Party Edition this Saturday 21 July in The White Horse. Set within the paddock, the family gastro pub will be kicking off the summer holiday with a collaboration with North West parenting publication, Parentfolk. Complete with DJ, glitter bar, crafts and CBBC pop-up, the day is set to start the summer holidays with a bang!

Monday 23 July will welcome three days of funfair fever in The White Horse, with a select number of fairground rides, bouncy castles and sweet treats for little ones and big ones to enjoy. Following this, there will be subsidised activities available Monday to Friday for the remaining five weeks of the summer break, with messy crafts, pony rides and bouncy castles. The White Horse outside bar and BBQ will be open every day during the summer holidays inviting guests to enjoy the relaxed pub garden, whilst little ones make the most of their bespoke nautical themed play area and free craft table.

For those looking to make the most of the evening summer sun, The White Horse are offering guests two courses and half a bottle of wine for just £15 per person* every Tuesday from 5pm. The perfect excuse to catch up with friends and loved ones in the pubs, relaxing conservatory, complete with retractable roof, providing an alfresco dining experience.

1539 Restaurant & Bar, Chester’s on-course award-winning restaurant are also offering a complimentary bottle of Prosecco when two dine from their set menu every Sunday after 5pm^. Named after the year racing first began in Chester, the restaurant boasts panoramic views of the historic Roodee and unforgettable sunsets, ideally enjoyed with a cold glass of fizz in hand.

Summer racing fixtures commence with The Stella Artois Midsummer Meeting on Saturday 28 July. Sunshine and racing makes for a winning combination, the energy and unrivalled atmosphere with an afternoon on the Roodee. There will be a host of free activity for families to get involved with on the Open Course, including giant games, crafts and face painting. Better still, groups of 10 or more can benefit from a Buy 10 get one free offer on Dee Stand and Open Course tickets.

Racing will continue throughout the summer with the MBNA Family Fun Day on Sunday 5 August and Foxy Bingo Ladies Day on Saturday 1 September.

The highlight of the summer racing calendar for families is MBNA Family Funday. Expect an exciting line up of racing alongside a wealth of free family fun activities sponsored by MBNA~. To create a festival atmosphere local band Yubaba are set to perform premier funk and soul tracks. The seven-piece band promise to get the audience dancing. Dee Radio will be to hand out goody bags and presenter Dave Philips is set to compare throughout the day, adding to the fun, whilst Chester FC and Storyhouse will be providing additional fun activities for youngsters.

Gates to the Open Course will open at 9am and all other enclosures will open at the usual time of 11.30am. Tickets are available from £12 and kids go free†. Better still, groups of 10 or more can benefit from a Buy 10 get One free offer on Dee Stand and Open Course tickets. It’s the perfect opportunity to get the family together and enjoy an afternoon in the August sunshine.

Foxy Bingo Ladies Day on Saturday 1 September also welcomes families with lots of family fun scheduled. Unbridled excitement, where eye-catching fashion meets the thrill of an afternoon’s racing. Why not make an occasion of the day with a hospitality package. Prices start from £115+VAT in the White Horse, but you’ll need to be quick as places are selling quickly.

Expect plenty of entertainment in addition to a busy race card. So, get the family organised, pack a picnic and enjoy an afternoon on the Roodee. Children aged 17 and under are eligible to attend this and every single raceday free of charge with a full paying adult and tickets for adults start at just £12 per person out on the Open Course.

Chester Polo makes a welcomed return to the Roodee on Friday 7 & Saturday 8 September for the Boodles Roodee Challenge Cup. Four teams will battle it out with a compelling narrative, this flagship tournament within the prestigious Polo calendar is not to be missed. Should any youngsters be inspired by the action on the pitch, they’ll be able to practice their swing on a ‘have a go Polo pony’ and even test their own speed whilst enjoying the free pony rides on offer on Saturday and the fun doesn’t stop there. There will be additional free activities, on Saturday, for little ones including crafts, garden games and face painting. Dee 106.3 will be in attendance along with Chester the cat! Spectators can gain free entry on Friday for the Semi-Finals and admission is just £8 for adults on each Saturday for the Finals, whilst children are invited to attend either day free of charge †!
