Chester’s much loved Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza will once again illuminate the city on Saturday 8 November 2025 at Chester Racecourse, bringing with it an evening of family fun and spectacular entertainment, all in aid of local charities.

Delivered in partnership with the Lord Mayor of Chester and Cheshire West and Chester Council, this year’s not-for-profit event promises another night to remember. The programme includes two professionally choreographed fireworks displays set to music, one of which is a special quiet display designed for younger families and those who prefer a gentler experience. Alongside the fireworks, visitors can enjoy a wide selection of street food, fairground rides and roaming entertainers, creating a vibrant atmosphere for all ages.

The Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza brings Chester’s community together to celebrate safely while making a tangible difference to local charities.

Louise Stewart, Chief Executive of Chester Race Company, added: “The Fireworks Extravaganza is a highlight of Chester’s events calendar. It is a chance for families, friends and colleagues to come together for a safe and memorable night out, while also making a lasting difference for charities and community groups who provide vital support across the region. Thanks to the hard work of the Chester Racecourse team, who give their time voluntarily, and the fact that we provide the venue free of charge, we are able to maximise the amount raised and ensure it goes directly to good causes.

“We are proud that proceeds from the event will support the Lord Mayor’s Charity Fund and other local charities, all of whom do remarkable work in our community. This event is about more than just fireworks, it is about giving something back to Chester and bringing people together in celebration.”

Last year’s event raised over £30,000 for local charities including SHARE, Chester Lions, Bren Bikes and KidsBank. Funds raised from this year’s event will be donated to the Lord Mayor’s Charity Fund as other local organisations who provide vital services across Chester and West Cheshire, and the event offers an important opportunity to support their work.

A new addition for 2025 is award-winning fireworks provider Sirotechnics Fireworks, who will deliver both displays for the first time. Sirotechnics are internationally recognised for their displays, having won the British Musical Fireworks Championship and earning a reputation as one of the UK’s leading pyrotechnics companies.

Gates will open at 5pm with entertainment and fairground rides before the quiet display begins at 6.45pm, followed by the main musical fireworks display at approximately 7.30pm. Guests can enjoy food and drink from a variety of vendors throughout the evening, and the racecourse will provide accessible viewing areas and facilities to ensure the event is welcoming to all. Safety remains paramount, with the event professionally delivered, stewarded and supported by the Chester Racecourse team. Personal fireworks and sparklers are not permitted on site.

Tickets are now on sale, with early bird entry priced from £9 per person. Children aged four and under can attend free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult. For those seeking an enhanced experience, VIP tickets are available from £32 and include access to a private viewing area as well as unlimited fairground rides between 5pm and 7pm. Fun fair rides are priced separately outside this time window. Tickets can be booked online at chester-races.com/fireworks or by calling 01244 304610.

As a not-for-profit event, every ticket purchased directly contributes to charitable efforts in Chester and beyond. With high demand expected, organisers are urging attendees to secure tickets early to avoid disappointment.
