Ladbrokes Chester Cup

The Ladbrokes Chester Cup is the longest race run at our racecourse, with the biggest field each year. That’s 2 miles, 2 furlongs, and 140 yards to be precise! As the highlight of the season and one of the major handicaps in the British racing calendar, it’s not one to be missed.

With many successors over the years, only a handful have achieved dual-winner status, including the likes of Rainbow High, Top Cees, Anak Pekan, and the Champion Hurdler Sea Pigeon.

The Deepbridge Huxley Stakes

The Group 2 Deepbridge Huxley Stakes is held on the Friday of the Boodles May Festival at Chester.

In 2026, dual Derby winner Lambourn made a successful seasonal comeback in the race for trainer Aidan O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore, fending off Bay City Roller to record O’Brien’s fifth win in the race and Moore’s ninth – a new record for the race’s leading jockey. Noble Mission, younger brother of the great Frankel, won the 2014 Deepbridge Huxley Stakes before going on to win multiple Group 1 races later that season. Sir Michael Stoute holds the record for leading trainer in the race, having won it eight times, including four victories in five years between 2005 and 2009.
