Chester Racecourse Up For Two Accolades at the 2023 RCA Showcase Awards

Published on 16 October 2023

Chester Racecourse is delighted to announce that it has been named as a Finalist in the Marketing and Non-Raceday categories at this year’s Racecourse Association (RCA) Showcase Awards.

The Racecourse Association’s (RCA) marquee event, which will be held at Aintree Racecourse on Thursday 23 November, celebrates excellence and innovation amongst British Racecourses – in partnership with Great British Racing, the Racing Post, the Racing Foundation and Racing Together.

The Marketing Award is for excellence in the sphere of campaign execution, increasing the appeal of racing to new audiences and improving the frequency of visits amongst racegoers, while the Non-Raceday Award celebrates fantastic non-raceday events that provide memorable days out and engage the local community.

Chester will compete with four other racecourses, including Musselburgh, for the Marketing accolade following a promotion campaign with social media influencers for its Family Day fixture. The nomination in the Non-Raceday category relates to the 2022 Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza, which raised £20,000 for local charities.

There are eight core Showcase Award categories in total, plus two additional, public-voted Awards.

Paul Swain, Head of Raceday Experience & Communications at the RCA, commented:

“Congratulations to our 2023 Showcase Finalists. This list represents the best of British racecourses over the past 12 months and demonstrates their commitment to providing a fantastic experience for participants and racegoers alike.

“Our independent judging panel commented on the high standard of entries this year which was evident when considering the scores awarded.

“My thanks to all racecourses in supporting the Showcase Awards, our independent judging panel for their time and expertise and to our partners who help elevate this event. Alongside hosts Aintree Racecourse, the RCA is eagerly anticipating the Showcase Seminar & Awards on Thursday 23rd November where we will crown this year’s winners and overall Champion Racecourse.”
