From Sunday 30th January, Chester Race Company, in partnership with Chester BID, will extend free parking for shoppers and visitors to the city at the Racecourse and at Linenhall car park in Nicholas Street. Free parking will be available every Sunday following a Saturday race meeting during the Chester Racecourse season and every last Sunday of the month for the rest of the year.
This will be the fifth consecutive year of that the racecourse has provided the free parking programme. Originally only at the racecourse, it grew in popularity and so more spaces were released at Linenhall car park in 2019. Now both venues over a potential of almost 800 spaces.
Sam Martin, Marketing Manager, Chester Race Company, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Chester BID and our city trader neighbours with the free parking initiative for the fifth consecutive year. The free parking initiative is always a huge success for the city and we are looking forward to supporting the local community once again.”
“We look forward to seeing the growth of the city centre’s bars, shops and restaurants as we start to reach some form of normality in the coming weeks and months.”
Emily Ghazarian, marketing and events manager, Chester BID, said: ‘We are so delighted to be working with Chester Race Company to again offer city visitors a free parking space once a month. It makes a day out in Chester much more affordable for those travelling by car to the city centre.’
Over the Covid lockdown period in March 2020, Chester BID worked with Chester Racecourse to offer free daily spaces for essential workers and shoppers to be able to park in the city centre.
