We are delighted to be welcoming spectators back to Roman Day on Saturday 29 May - the first fixture this year with a racing crowd.
Roman Day celebrates our historical roots and location within the Roman city of Chester. Did you know, Chester Racecourse, established in 1539, is the oldest racecourse still in operation in the world. Why not read more about the history of the racecourse and view our special commemorative video, released in 2019 to celebrate 480 years of racing on the Roodee. Click here for more information.
Access to indoor facilities will be restricted and all food and drink is to be consumed outdoors and only whilst seated (dedicated zones will be made available on the Grandstand side of the track) unless you have a booked table within a designated hospitality facility. Please note that the enclosure access and facilities detailed are based on the current guidelines. We continue to work closely with the Local Authorities and Safety Advisory Groups on preparations and plans for these fixtures. Should the Government roadmap continue to progress successfully and restrictions ease, we will aim to provide more enclosure access and facilities to racegoers. A detailed race day programme will be emailed to all attending racegoers with updates on entry, access and facilities prior to each fixture.
As is the Chester way, everything will be done safely and in line with the latest Government COVID-19 guidelines. You will be limited to a maximum of six tickets per booking and strict social distancing will be in place throughout the racecourse. Read our frequently asked questions page for more information on how we plan to keep you safe during your visit to Chester Racecourse.
